Dorks cost only a dime, taste no worse than your average junk food concoction, and sell in the range of a million per year. Lukas said they've become especially popular among local politicians and business leaders, who enjoy giving a few Dorks to their more annoying rivals and nemeses. As Lukas tells it, Dorks even flirted with the national political limelight when he was included on a conference call with President Clinton, who upon learning of the candies quipped, "I'd like to send a few to those dorks up on Capitol Hill."

Lukas Confections makes a variety of other candies -- caramels and toffees, mostly -- but Dorks appear to be Lukas's sentimental favorite. Their dweeby little four-eyed mascot has been spun off into a variety of promotional items, including notepads and pocket protectors.
