Anatolia is a peninsula

with waters surrounding its three sides.

In my hometown of Izmir,

I faced the Aegean Sea daily.

This did not mean that water was abundant;

as a child there were water shortages around-the-clock.

We did not take water for granted.

The Islamic culture gives water an important role in praying,

to purify body and soul.

In the Islamic garden,

the water is the mirror of the Heavens

and the symbol of life.

Japanese sand gardens honor and celebrate water

in the absence of water.

Both have inspired the landscape of the Water Room,

a conceptual bathroom.

The Water Room reflects well my design identity.
