The Jacob chair is an evolution of an object through time, a current translation of an old fashioned wooden chair. From a carpenter father to his industrial designer son.
Golan Amoyal - studio manager
Tom Vaisbord - industrial designer
Inspired by his carpenter father and hardcore industrial machines, Golan Amoyal, the chief designer of studio aroma LTD has designed a piece of wooden furniture that integrates heavy aluminum parts. The combination between these hot and cold materials is quiet yet satisfying & looks complete. The metal parts are injected and the wooden parts are made mostly by hand in Italy. The chair is named after Golan's father - Jacob. The Jacob chair is about the past, it's about heritage, it's about passing on the passion for creation from father to son. It's more than just a chair, it tells a story of evolving, a present translation to a same chair by the son of the the original creator. The Jacob chair combines nine wooden parts and twelve aluminum parts. Two main aluminum parts hold most of the wooden parts together. The wooden legs are placed by a special aluminum screw that holds them in place. The aluminum parts are injected and tested, and after that these parts are delivered to the carpenter for assembly. We have tried to keep it "retro" with industrial chic.

I would not pass your Grandfather's chair as "old fashioned". If it is still around to this day, he must have employed some smart engineering to make it last last this long. Good luck with tbe new chair, it looks sharp. I hope its around for your Grandchild to re-design someday.
