Five years ago when we designed the basics of the Minimal Calendar app experience, your average digital calendar looked very different (go ahead and search google for "ios 6 calendar"). Meanwhile, after a long road to get to its release this week, its great to report back that the Minimal Calendar's design has remained the same.

It's a microcosm showing that good design is something that can be timeless, no matter the medium. By focusing on time-tested principles of typography, color, form, and a push for thoughtful simplicity, things can last in the ever-changing digital space too.

However, the point of Minimal Calendar is not stripped down aesthetic design—these visual choices are intended to make for a better experience. An app that is easier to get to what you need, find dates, create events, and more.

With the addictive and intrusive direction so many digital experiences have headed, we think there is more of a need for straightforward and simple products like this.
