Packaging Range Different sleeve designs were used to differentiate the range we have. It also creates a very interesting pattern and iconic look.

It started in 2013, when we (Rex and Charles) had an idea—a simple idea to solve our own frustration with jingling key chains. We launched it on Kickstarter and to our surprise, we gratefully had 5,000 people believe in our vision by the end of the 30-day campaign. Alongside the praises and excitement, came valuable constructive feedback on how we could make Orbitkey even better.

As a company that values innovation, design and more importantly, our community —we took on the feedback we received and instilled it into the design of Orbitkey 2.0. The goal we wanted to achieve has been the same since the start—to design something that is not only aesthetically pleasing, but also functional.

Each band material has been carefully selected to both enhance the quality and also prevent keys from scratching other belongings. The new version of leather Orbitkey features an EVA cushion insert to further reinforce the straps, making it stiffer so it's easier to operate; even using only one hand.

We have intentionally left both the right and left side of the stack as open, allowing keys and accessories to be easily accessible for both left- and right-handed users. You can arrange your stack of keys in your order of preference and this will help you locate the right key even in the dark.

One of our biggest challenges was to come up a locking mechanism that is easy to use, provides enough tension and also does not loosen with usage. Inspired by the function of detent balls, the Orbitkey features a fully integrated locking mechanism, working in conjunction with a simple curved washer to allow for tension adjustments. The loosen-free feature also self-actuates as the customer tightens the screw, keeping 2 to 7 keys secure.

We designed the new locking mechanism to be more pocket-friendly with a slimmer profile. The upgraded version is also made from stainless steel (as opposed to aluminium) for increased durability; and a concave surface that improves ergonomics for easy handling.

The D-Ring; where you can attach larger keys, such as a car key, has also been rounded off and improved, especially on the premium leather version. It can also be used to attach any keys that are only needed temporarily.

After noticing that most people carry bulky tools with their keyrings, we purposefully designed our line of accessories to be extremely slim, so they take up less room in your pocket. The multi-tool has been introduced alongside our 2.0 launch—it features six tools in one compact form, including bottle opener, multi-size hex wrench, box cutter, flat-head screwdriver and file.

Made entirely from paper using simple but purposeful construction, our updated package design is fully recyclable and designed for ease of assembly. All proportions and graphic elements have been carefully considered to create a consistent brand experience and to echo the great attention to detail evident in Orbitkey.
