Major Tom is a modular system. It allows quick and easy assembly, disassembly or modification of furniture pieces. One piece from the collection is a tabletop equipped with a modular panel that can be connected with legs in just a few seconds. Depending on the situation, an extension module transforms your normal table to a standing one. Whether you'd like to build a table, a chair or mount your speakers, there are endless options for modularity.

What makes this collection possible is a clever connection system. One key component is a conical steep-thread on which modular panels are screwed with a 90° rotation. This connection is secured by a simple "click" mechanism. Three metal pins snap into the modular panels and prevent the pieces from being removed. To undo the connection you have to rotate a ring which is part of the case under the steep-thread. Then its possible to unscrew the parts.
The mounting modules are foldable tripods which form a cylinder when closed so they only require a minimum of space. If you imagine that 20 folded tripods fit in a normal bottle crate you will understand how space saving the system is.
Whether it's an event like a banquet, a concert or in your garden, at home or at your workspace: wherever you need to generate tables, chairs or similar and want them to disappear in the next moment—Major Tom can make for a number of different options.
In my graduation project I tried to find space saving options for everyday life. I studied collapsible furniture and came to the conclusion that, for example, a table is the most space saving when you separate the tabletop and the legs, but when you separate things the connection must be quick and easy.
