Omni-Spoon is an adjustable measuring spoon. Utilizing a special plunger function, it combines a complete set of measuring spoons into one device. With a built in level, there will no longer be a need to reach for a knife to do the job.
Nicolas Cheng, designer
Baking requires precise measurements and correct ratios of ingredients to guarantee the same result every time.Measuring spoons used for cooking and baking often come as a set and take up excess space. Once the set of spoons are separated, individual spoons becomes harder to find when needed. Finally, leveling off the spoon requires the help of an extra utensil such as a knife to ensure an exact measurement.
After identifying the problem, the design process began as a challenge to streamline the way measuring spoons were used. 2D and 3D sketches were created to explore different ways to measure and level ingredients. After many iterations, 3D printing was used to helped test the physical form and ergonomics of the spoon.
Omni-Spoon can be used to precisely measure both liquids and solid ingredients.
Omni-Spoon takes all standard measurements from 1/8 teaspoon to 1 tablespoon.
Silicone sealed plunger acts like a squeegee ensuring a precise measurement.
Concealed and clean, eliminating the need to have to reach for another utensil.
Omni-Spoon can be easily taken apart and washed in a dishwasher.

Fantastic concept. I think the lines and measurements on the spinning base are too difficult to read. Also, people may absent-mindedly turn the spoon over to read the markings! What if instead, you has cutouts around the outside, along the bottom edge, and the twisting mechanism clicked into position at which ever measurement was required? This way, changing measurement would be just as easy, but it would be easier to quickly see which measurement you'd chosen. Just a thought. :)
