The Gravel Chair is another experimental chair designed and produced by Philipp Aduatz by using solely construction materials.
The idea for the Gravel Chair was to use materials designed for an application in large scale for an experimental furniture design process.
First, a polystyrene foam model was shaped by hand. After that it was encapsulated with resin and glass fibres. Finally, a stone carpet was used to cover the entire surface of the chair. This lightweight construction saves weight and material, even though the chair appears to be very heavy and solid.

Isn't every chair made out of "construction" materials...? wood, screws, nails, metal...etc..? He used almost the exact same process as any other molded chair (foam shape, covered with resin and glass fibers) but decided to glue tiny rocks to the outside of the mold.
