The design language was carefully considered to ensure Klipur represents a sense of comfort. The process started with the creation of style boards, accompanied with rapid sketching to explore the design language.

It was important for Klipur to be designed with soft, considered surfaces to help it look as good in your ear as it does out.

Capturing Feedback Prototypes were developed with a fail-fast mindset, used to highlight successful elements efficiently. The prototypes evaluated with users to capture feedback, and scored against criteria to inform ongoing concept directions.

Klipur has been designed so that the earbuds directly attach to each other, giving a streamline and convenient experience.

Attaching the earbuds together automatically turns off the earbuds - and just like our phones, Klipur can be charged at night using a dedicated charging dock. Users benefit from a reduction in steps and no risk of misplacing the case when earbuds are in use.

Insight Discovery

Klipur's development started with extensive research to understand how users currently listen to their music. This research led to the formation of a detailed task analysis, revealing user pain points and key needs - later analysed to discover behavioural insights.

Although earbuds are used in many environments, they're often used during short commuting trips. It became clear that users wanted a seamless way to keep their earbuds together after use.

Earbuds typically do this using a charging carry case, which adds use steps and can be easily lost - a problem which leaves the earbuds unable to charge. These cases are often large due to additional batteries, but with advancements in wireless technology and battery capacity, it's now a better time than ever to innovate.

Exploring Solutions

Once the true problem was identified, HMW (How Might We) statements were used to explore possible solutions. The rapid generation of concepts were based on these statements, and regularly evaluated to ensure the user needs were appropriately considered.

Capturing Feedback

Once key concepts were identified, iterative prototypes were developed with a fail-fast mindset, used to highlight successful elements efficiently. The prototypes evaluated with users to capture feedback, and scored against criteria to inform ongoing concept directions.

User Experience

The most appropriate development method was used for each element of the product, helping to refine and resolve the user experience and touch points. These methods including user journey maps and emotion analysis, along with a variety of rapid sketches, prototypes, digital sketching and rendering.

Since comfort is important when using earbuds - Klipur has been designed to fit comfortably in any ear. The design uses soft, gentle surfaces ensuring it's as comfortable as it looks, whilst the main body is gently angled to ensure the earbuds always sit flush with the head.
