There are so many houseplant gadgets out there all claiming to look after your plants. But you often end up looking after the technology, which misses the point, right?
The Float Planter takes a simple and more analog approach. When it's time to water your plants, the planter reveals its red rim. From a quick glance around your room, it's obvious which plants need watering. It's solution is simple, with no need for electronics or apps.
Will Vickery - Designer
The Float Planter is a self-watering plant pot that waters your plants through a cotton wick. Here's how it works: a floating cover hides the internal red pot from view. As the water level drops, so does the float - revealing the red rim when it's time for a refill.
Made from ceramic, the Float Planter has a beautiful matte finish and minimal form. The pot measures 6.5 inches in diameter and can hold plenty of water for weeks at a time. The soil is kept perfectly moist for most houseplants and herbs, making it ideal for those of us without green fingers!
Designer of the Float Planter Will Vickery says he "wanted to design something simple and fun, that pushed back against over-complicated electronic gardening gadgets and gizmos. The Float Planter tackles the problem of keeping houseplants alive, but without throwing electronics and software at the product."
The Float Planter is available on Kickstarter now at a 35% discount.

Love the idea. Does the type of plant matter for "proper" wicking amount? If yes, is there a way to adjust?
