Although our cities are surrounded by water, many of us hardly notice it in our daily lives. Light Reeds create a connection to the water, the original lifeblood of our cities. They are a series of luminescent rods attached to an urban waterfront, likely an elevated walkway or pier. The reeds flow and sway with the flow of the water and the tides, creating a visual connection to the water’s movement. They are powered by the water, reminding people of the water’s strength and potential. Light Reeds provide an indication of water quality through the color of their lights.
