Man worn PLB (personal locator beacon) integrated to a life vest. We looked to develop a GPS/AIS antenna (161.975/162.025 MHz). With extended range by elevating the antenna above ground clutter. This PLB concept utilized an antenna unfurling inspired by insect proboscis. The PLB concept would activate on immersion, no action is required from the user unlike other devices. This PLB is automatically activated when the life vest inflates.
