Upon learning his customers didn't want to touch the refrigerator doors in his convenience store in Fukuoka, owner Koji Ohara came up with a hack: A U-shaped piece of 3mm-thick aluminum attached to the door with double-sided tape. Installing them all "took about ten minutes," Ohara told Asahi News.

As word of the innovation spread locally, "We received inquiries from outside the convenience store," Ohara says. "Just yesterday, an auto parts manufacturer in Nagoya asked me about the materials and dimensions."

Looks like an ADA violation and a tripping hazard. Might be OK if it didn't stick out so far. Needs a spring hinge that lets it fold down when stepped on, with some grooves/texture on the end that would provide some grip to the bottom of a shoe.
