When working on a project, some of the most frustrating moments are triggered by the little things that are made apparent just as you finish up for the day—uneven spacing, crooked objects on the wall are just a few that could drive you mad. Sometimes we persist and eventually figure it out, but sometimes we just need to throw in the towel.
Earlier this year at CES, we came across Plott, an AR-based company who suite of tools covers various DIY needs. LetsPlott, Plott's Extend Reality Platform combines home improvement tools with immersive technology to help conceptualize, design and measure projects. They've also developed Cubit and Carta, two tools that bring the design envisioned in their app to reality.
Using VR and AR, users can design and edit their projects in the app and then use Plott's tools to create them. Cubit is what they call a "GPS for your creativity." It allows you to digitally plan out measurements and spacing through the VR and AR capabilities and then use Cubit to find the exact dimensions on a wall. If even has lasers for increased accuracy.
Carta defines digital measurement and mapping by walking and simultaneously creates a virtual annotated map of the project.
If you're feeling brave, you can share projects via the app and can get some inspiration as well with projects from content creators. Plott lets you design the world digitally before making it a reality, anticipating the mistakes you might make even before you make them.
