The pointed tip of a pocketknife is great for poking, probing, prying and slicing. But if you're using the knife for other things, like chopping or carving, the point can be a nuisance at best and a liability at worst. Hence Gerber has designed the FlatIron, a folding knife with a cleaver-style blade:
The 8.5" knife retails for $42 on Gerber's website, where it's currently sold out; however, it can be had on Amazon for 36 bucks and change.

I'm intrigued. I'm also a Hatchet man for the local Tong.
Why has every US made knife a belt clip? I see very limited use for it against a large footprint on the design. It is not pretty.
Because we carry them on our person everywhere we go. Without a clip, it would need to be carried in the pocket along with everything else (keys, wallet, phone, etc), and wouldn't be as easily accessed. I like to know exactly where my knife is, and that it will not move or change orientation.
Personally I use the clip on my pocket knive, but you are always 2 screws away from removing it, in fact many pocket knives even come with the star screw driver to remove it.
Heads up - the amazon listing you have is also sold out (current delivery window is 1-2 months)
It's nice to see the mass market knife makers are finally catching up to the custom market.
