Now that technology has freed us from the lightbulb fixture, designers are continuing to exploit the new form factors made possible by LEDs. Power Practical's Luminoodle Task design is not only powerful, but portable, lightweight and flexible, which opens up a whole new world of lighting possibilities:
I'm digging the practicality of the magnets and the hanging loops at either end. The strip will pump out 3,600 lumens at 5000k, and is dimmable. You can choose between a two-foot-long USB-powered model, a five-foot-long 12V-powered model, or a trio of daisy-chainable (three max) two-foot-long models.
The project has been successfully Kickstarted, with $109,933 pledged on a $50,000 goal. At press time there were still 27 days left in the campaign.

The loops on the end are a good idea, but I think one end should be a carabiner style hook. For one, it would make them easier to daisy-chain with each other. Also, I imagine it's easier to find a bar to hook onto than it would be to find a hook to hang on (assuming you're looking to put the light somewhere that is non-ferrous and can't use the magnets, a tree branch perhaps).
I don't see anything that would stop you from putting a carabiner, clevis shackle, buckle or velcro loop on there if that's what you needed.
Hey, that's a good aftermarket fix!
It's nice to see some portable LED strip lighting ideas getting developed. I've been messing around with cheap 5v USB LED strip lighting and battery packs for awhile now. Most is plug and play and super simple. Check out the offerings on Amazon. 1 meter of USB LED tape in some flexible tubing with a thick gauge flexible wire inside opens up a world of DIY task lighting...
