Love this recap; saw the collapsible bookcase before; not sure I understand the purpose of a collapsible bookcase?
Juan, the bookcase design and Christopher Schwarz's book is about "campaign furniture," i.e. furniture used by officers during military campaigns. All of the furniture had to break down because as the front lines moved, so too did the military encampments. Think of some of the commanders' tents you've seen in "Game of Thrones," for instance.
Ohhhh. That makes so much more sense! I imagine adventurers in the 19th century going to the amazon or Safaris in Africa had similar furniture. Don't watch Game of Thrones. :-(
The other place where I could see this being useful is for people that move around a lot. I've got most of my shelves on wheels and many things stored in milk crates and lidded tubs.Everytime I move I can load all the tubs on a trailer and screw some plywood to fronts of my shelves to leave them fully loaded to roll onto the trailer.
Thanks for including me!
