It turns out there are plenty of other places to view today's Winter solstice besides Stonehenge—the guy who started the map/blog Stonhenge in Your City found all of them for us. Whether you're in Uganda, Israel, New York or even Lithuania, there are specific places to take part in celebrating the beginning of winter.
If you're a solstice junkie, the map creator is seeking clarification on the viewing locations he's discovered:
There are many streets in the cities which are aligned along the direction of rising sun of the solstice. I have found all of them. Unfortunately I don't know whether these alignments are intentional or just happen to be such on statistical basis. If you know the story of a such street, please send me a quick email and I will add this information.
