Available at Orange22 Design Lab LLC: Designer Paul Kelley has come up with a "revolutionary" desk that hides away. But it's not just aesthetics, as the copy indicates: "When not in use, the chair can be invisibly tucked away again, allowing for maximum usage of space." Of course, if you don't have this desk you could try this other crazy thing, which is to slide your stool underneath the desk you do have.

Anyways, if this emotionally frigid blue acrylic cube is a must-have for you, good news: It's priced for the masses at only $29,921! Though something tells me if you're the kind of guy who buys one of these, you're the kind of guy who sends your kid to military academy for spilling orange juice on the piano.

Maybe you can explain something to me. I'm a design fan, I make OK money, I love intelligently designed objects and follow the market. I am aware that there is a lot that goes into the manufacture and creation of certain furniture objects. But I see things like this with a price tag of THIRTY GRAND?! That's a mid size near luxury car. Can anyone honestly tell me the work and engineering and design that went into this desk is equal to that of a Honda Accord!? It is just beyond belief. And if I can afford such a thing, I have a big enough house that I don't need a hideaway desk. And sitting on a block like that looks incredibly uncomfortable. And it won't be a featureless blue cube with a computer, inbox, phone etc. on top.

I just don't understand the pricing on capital-D "Design" furniture. It seems vaguely obscene to me. Who is this desk for? Shouldn't they just call themselves sculptors and be done with it?

Looks like the most uncomfortable, coldest depressing place to engage in work activity and may god have mercy on the person who created it. Could be a nice storage solution though.
