While physical products might be easier to grasp—both literally and figuratively—service design is equally important in improving existing infrastructure, methodology and overall user experience across a broad range of sectors. To design an excellent service, one needs to consider and interpret a multitude of human-centric factors, with the goal of anticipating user's needs and behaviors. The finished product should be intuitive, streamlined and efficient. Specifically, for our Service Design category, we were looking for, "all projects entailing the organization of end-users, communication, transactions, infrastructure, institutions and organizational systems".

Our Service Design category this year was led by Joe Gebbia, Founder of Airbnb. Joe was joined on the Service Design Team by Beatrice Galilee, Curator of Architecture and Design at The Metropolitan Museum of Art, David McKendrick, Co-Founder of B.A.M., and Kenya Hara, President of Nippon Design Center, Inc.

Overall, the Jury Team was very impressed with this year's submissions, and Jury Captain Joe Gebbia personally wanted to congratulate all the honorees.
