Everything that can be covered up, must be, some would have us believe. Although they sport no flames, sports logos, or even happy faces, Happy Face Covers are here to rock our commuting worlds. The SF Chron drily observesBay Area transportation planners wondering why more drivers aren't using FasTrak to pay their bridge tolls were given a possible answer on Tuesday, thanks to a private entrepreneur: The electronic devices are just plain ugly.
Happy Face Covers papered on-ramps leading to the Bay Bridge with flyers screaming "Cover your ugly FasTrak."
Their website shows a Darth Vaderesque black car with darkly tinted windshield -- and a glaring white FasTrak tag. "Cover this up!!!" the site advises. "Take back your car for only $4.99."
"The marketing of FasTrak must have reached some critical mass if private industry has risen up to solve some problem I didn't even know existed" said John Goodwin, spokesman for the Metropolitan Transportation Commission.
