The iconic Nike swoosh, intended to depict "movement," was originally designed by Carolyn Davidson in 1971 who was paid a whopping $35 by Phil Knight for the logo. To Nike's credit, Davidson was formally (and rightfully!) thanked with a diamond ring and an envelope containing Nike stock in 1983.
