As Gun Sales Rise, Gun-Concealing Furniture Designs Proliferate

If these designers applied their ingenuity to all furniture, we could solve the world's storage problems

People cannot agree on gun control laws in America, but one point is not in doubt: Gun sales are on the rise. Following mass shootings, of which we have plenty, firearm manufacturers and retailers confirm that sales increase.

Which begs the question: Is there an attendant increase in the sales of firearm-storing furniture? When we looked at the stuff last year, it certainly seemed to be booming, and these days it doesn't show any signs of slowing down.

Absent the politics, the furniture itself is fascinating as it poses a unique storage design challenge: End users want the furniture to visually conceal their goods, yet they want lightning-quick access to it. This often means that end users are seeking to integrate gun storage into some very central pieces of furniture—like dining tables:

Others feel the bed is the best place for them:

In short, it seems these designers have collectively sought out every square inch of dead space and turned it into usable storage.

A lot of these ideas can, of course, be adapted to hold non-firearm-related items. So whether you're pro- or anti-gun, perhaps some of these ideas will inspire you in designing your own storage-related pieces.

The went one looks bizzare as hell :D I feel like normal gun safe/gun cabinet works the best for most people( mine is from Liberty Safe rec via https://blog.gritrsports.com/ )

Concealed weapon laws vary greatly, but there was an interesting court case last year(?) where an automotive artist (THE genius of vehicle hides) was being prosecuted for Building them.

He wasn't storing drugs or anything in them, he wasn't involved with their use, and he had absolutely no say in whether the end user stored money, jewellery, heroin or Kleenex in there. He just designed and built them, and yet he was arrested for doing something for which he broke no laws.

It begs the question of whether your furniture designer could be charged for building a kitchen cabinet in which the homeowner might want to hide a firearm...

  Hi Mike, I remember reading that! The poor bastard. However, if I remember correctly he was charged as part of the prosecution of an international drug ring. I can't envision any scenario in which the designer of domestic gun-concealing furniture could be brought up on similar charges.
