A Sit-Stand Desk with a Functional Twist

Got your back to a window? This design lets you beat monitor glare all day long

Imagine you've got just three days to come up with a furniture design that challenges the notion of offices as static, stagnant spaces. And you not only pull it off, but when Ikea's Concept Innovation Manager Göran Nilsson sees your mock-up, says "That, I could buy immediately."

That was the situation product designer Rui Pereira, spatial designer Svend Jacob Pedersen and interaction designer Young Eun Kim found themselves in after participating in Space10's Body Awareness Makerthon. The event asked the teammates to create a dynamic piece of office furniture for an "active workspace," and here's what they came up with:

As someone whose workspace suffers from horrific glare that moves across the windows throughout the day, I echo Nilsson's thought: That, I could buy immediately. And if that's what they came up with in just three days, I want that trio locked up inside that design lab for another three months. (Relax, it appears there's a kitchen in there.)

This is an interesting idea.
What about all of the wires from the computer/mac?
They could run down the central column, but I can imagine the pain of having to untangle them...
Though I have watched it without sound so maybe it was explained in the video :)

  It would be nice if all cords will enter the desk in bottom central leg. The it will be acceptable from the top side. And what is more funny, that naturally wish - to just drop all the cords into the top hole of leg and then connect it to power can be solved easy with that desk.
  
  Another problem is additional space, needed for that workspace
