Icicles I get: Water drips downward and freezes. But I've often wondered how the HELL water drips upwards and freezes, forming those weird spikes I occasionally find on ice cubes in the ice tray.
Man of science that I am, I always assumed that either
a) My freezer contains an invisible anti-gravity portal secretly installed by alien micronauts, or
b) My ice cubes are attempting to evolve a primitive self-defense mechanism.
