Blending wood with resin can create pleasing-looking tabletops, as we've seen from MTH Woodworking and Michaelsaurus. But Mr. Demcka, the guy behind Dema's Woodshop, blends the two materials on a much smaller scale. By chopping a common polyethylene cutting board into a box-like mold, mixing Alumilite resin with pigment, and throwing in an otherwise worthless live-edge wood scrap, Demcka's able to produce a usable block of new "raw" material:
While he's using his "call blanks" to manufacture duck calls—surely there's a dynasty to be had there—it's not difficult to imagine the variety of tabletop objects this hybrid material could be used to produce.
