When you block a troll on social media, you realize the internet has given you Mob Boss powers: You can press a button and make someone disappear.
Now Amazon has created a product that's sort of the opposite. The Amazon Dash Button is a physical button you press that makes objects appear. (In several days, anyway.)
The diminutive object is meant to be Velcro'd wherever your daily consumables are stocked, and the idea is that when you're starting to run low, you hit the button and it magically adds the item to your Amazon shopping cart.
The buttons are tied to specific "favorite household brands," from companies that must be thrilled to have worked their logos onto your household surfaces.
You still need to confirm the order on your smartphone, presumably a stopgap in case Junior has decided you need 27 bottles of Tide. I would have liked to see more comprehensive security measures, such as codes that are changed weekly by the Joint Chiefs of Staff, and two Naval Commanders that must come to my house and both turn keys in locks at the same time before I can press it.
For now the Dash Button is limited to Amazon Prime members, who can only order three buttons before they're cut off, as this is a limited-time trial.
For me, the video serves as an almost disturbing reminder of just how much stuff we consume in the mere act of living. And I can't decide if the product is lazy or brilliant. Your thoughts?

Now if only there was some way to block you on here....
