  Actually the rifle and knife are huge elements in the development of Western culture. There would have been no colonization without them. What was that book about this kind of stuff? Guns, Germs & Steel?

  It disturbs me somewhat that educated people class the rifle and sword important tools. Yes, they played a large part in our history, but there is no posible way that tools of death improved thing in general
  (not including the brief period when we used them to hunt for food)
