Core77 is pleased to partner with Windows Phone to bring you a series of photo diaries this summer. Based on the theme of Reinvention, we're looking to capture the fleeting moments and highlight the often-overlooked facets of the world around us through the lens of the Nokia Lumia 928, especially in the low-light settings in which its camera excels. (All photos were taken with the Nokia Lumia 928 smartphone and are published without post production.)

Summertime in New York City is all about the outdoor events: a healthy mix of free and paid concerts, cinema in the parks, on rooftops, dance parties, river cruises and events like next week's Summer Streets festival. The penultimate installment of our Windows Phone test shoots in the wild we headed to Williamsburg Park—one of Brooklyn's newest outdoor venues—to see one of the most influential bands of the 80s, New Order. Anyone who's seen a gig in previous years at the Williamsburg Waterfront (a few streets down) is bound to be disappointed by this venue as the replacement, there's no majestic view of the Manhattan skyline and the sound quality drops significantly towards the back but on the upside, the work-in-progress park has a 7000 person capacity and unlike the Williamsburg Waterfront, all money raised at Williamsburg Park will stay in the city.
Fans of New Order were not disappointed, as the band was in great spirits—including multi-instrumentalist Bernard Sumner with a broken leg—cranking out a set loaded with more of their dancier songs to a crowd that literally sang along to every word. There's no denying the band is aging and half the audience (myself included) were there out of nostalgia, but they were in excellent form with classic tracks like "Crystal," "Ceremony," "Isolation," "Here to Stay," "Bizzare Love Triangle," "True Faith," and "Blue Monday." In the early days, New Order were renowned for their no encore policy and made a point of alluding to this a couple of times before a solid encore of three Joy Division covers; "Transmission," "Atmosphere" and "Love Will Tear Us Apart."
The lack of pretension for a Brooklyn show was refreshing, and the crowd genuinely seemed to have a good time. Despite the terrible visual projections—the official music video clips of each song as it was played—New Order made a strong case for their lasting influence on many of today's electronic acts.
Set list: Elegia Crystal Regret Ceremony Age of Consent Isolation (Joy Division cover) Love Vigilantes Here to Stay Your Silent Face World Bizarre Love Triangle True Faith 5 8 6 The Perfect Kiss Blue Monday Temptation
Encore: Transmission (Joy Division) Atmosphere (Joy Division) Love Will Tear Us Apart (Joy Division)
