Those with dedicated workshops of their own design have the luxury of placing their own power outlets. Bur for DIY'ers making do in mixed-use spaces, or tradespeople on jobsites, the chaos that is extension cords is a built-in part of any project: You need to keep the tool connection out of the sawdust pile, and arrange the cords in such a way that you and others won't trip over them.

One step towards managing that chaos is currently under consideration at Quirky. The Prop Power Rugged extension cord has a flexible neck that can be wrapped around things, which at least lets you get the socket up off the floor. It also has three grounded outlets, so you can get juice to two tools and a shopvac without needing to constantly plug and unplug, as I usually do with the standard orange extension cord. It's also nice that you can get juice up to the top of a ladder.

I would have liked to see some kind of little handle or tab, where the fingers of one hand can get purchase while the other hand is plugging or unplugging a tool, but I'm too late to this party: The Quirky team has already completed the design, put it into manufacturing, and are now trying to sort the price out.
