Since we're probably long-overdue for one of these posts, we were glad to see that Andrew McMillan recently uploaded several images to his Coroflot portfolio. The young designer just completed his BFA in Industrial Design at the Cleveland Institute for Art and he's now looking to make the leap into the real world. Of course, given his internship experience at Chrysler, it might be a small step into the world of automobile design.
Although he's spent the last two years knee-deep in cars, he's also tried his hand at a couple slick racing bicycles, fit for a futuristic velodrome.
As I happen to be partial to cycling myself, I was curious to see the stylized fork, which appears to seamlessly incorporate the headset and steering column; still, the stem of the Bianchi, above, looks a bit off to me. (For what it's worth, I've always loved the look of Look's 496 Zed frame, and this article by Felt Bicycles explains the aerodynamic advantages of an external steerer tube.)
Lastly, JEEP-sponsored coursework yielded a stackable, open-roof vehicle, designed for the Red Cross Red Crescent Societies. "Final Theme Sketch. The dead front profile of the car shows multiple functions. The profile shape of the vehicle allows [the] wheel to move into the body, and the flat profile allows the vehicle to be stacked when needed."
