Gerber Steady: A Multi-Tool for Shutterbugs

Sign of the times: A multi-tool is a handy thing to have on a camping trip, particularly with tools for opening cans, removing bottlecaps, and cutting or manipulating materials. Manufacturer Gerber has also recognized that a crucial part of the experience, at least among today's younger set, will be recording the weekend goings-on for Monday morning upload to Facebook.

Hence their new Steady multi-tool, which features the fold-outs you'd expect—pliers, cutters, openers, knives both smooth and serrated—and a few you wouldn't: Two arms swing out to turn the entire object into a tripod, and a connector flips out of the top to hold your cell phone or digital camera steady. If Blair Witch had been shot with this and a vibration-adjusting GoPro I wouldn't have gotten so sick in the theater.
