Pioneer Millworks has been cranking out wood products since 1988, and the cool thing is the majority of it is reclaimed from existing structures rather than cutting down trees.

The New-York- and Oregon-based company buys old barns, factory buildings and other structures facing demolition. They then harvest the wooden parts of the structure, filling their nine-acre yard with rare, antique, and even extinct woods wiped out by blights. Next they process the wood in their 50,000-square-foot facility to produce solid wood flooring or materials for timber-frame houses constructed by their sister company, New Energy Works.
