Now in its third year designing the show house, Ecofabulous has once again proved that living conscientiously doesn't mean sacrificing taste or comfort. This year, Ecofabulous founder Zem Joaquin teamed up with Los Angeles-based Jonathan Davis of pieceHomes, pre-fab green modular houses, to design an eco-friendly home that was less bohemian cottage-chic than modern-clean. "It's very soft, livable, warm and gorgeous," says Joaquin.

True enough, in 550 square feet, the home feels much larger than its footprint thanks to clerestory windows and varying ceiling heights. The home has a long linear plan that flows from kitchen to living room, bedroom to bath. Aside from a long list of green, sustainable features integrated into every part of the home, Joaquin points out the beauty of the space-saving console that separates the living room from the bedroom. "It's really important, since it defines the space without breaking the thoroughfare," says Joaquin. The console is open on top and on each side, leaving more room for the space to breathe but still defining the different rooms. Of all the elements in the home, this one took the most time to choose, shares Joaquin.

Among the green features in the Ecofabulous home: + Cradle to Cradle products + Energy efficient kitchen appliances from Electrolux + A water-saving stacked washer that Joaquin also uses in her home by Electrolux + FSC certified exterior cladding from EcoClad that doesn't need to be re-painted + Cork floors from Wicanders + An IceStone sustainable countertop made from 100 percent recycled glass and concrete

Asked why Joaquin keeps on doing it each year, she replies simply, "We do this so you would have context—so you understand how it would be to live with these products and not just to see them online and hear us say why they're great. We want everyone to understand that being healthier and considering the environment is a pretty fabulous thing to do."

The showhome will be auctioned on eBay Giving Works with proceeds going to the Global Green USA.
