A group of journalists gathered at the home of the Ambassador Ritva Jolkkonen of Finland yesterday for a preview of this year's New Finnish Design project. Celebrating its fifth year, SCENARIOS: A Story About What Happened in the Future, is an inspirational look at designers, manufacturers and products shaping the landscape of Finnish design. Curated by interior architect Sari Anttonen, SCENARIOS will open to the public in May, timed with New York's International Contemporary Furniture Fair. In addition to exhibiting objects, there will also be student workshops, a Nordic cafeteria, retail pop-up and lounge environments all designed by Anttonen.
Exhibiting Finnish designers include Harri Koskinen's Genelec Portable Speakers, Samuli Naamanka's Graphic Concrete and objects, Pentagon Design's bowls and lighting and Ikka Suppanen's Tikau pendant lamps. Visual identity for the exhibition will be by Ahonen & Lamberg.
Look out for more great events celebrating Finnish design as the country ramps up to the ICSID-sanctioned World Design Capital Helsinki 2012. Check the jump for more images of the products on exhibition!Create a Core77 Account
