Skeleton-like automotive manufacturing innovations, part 2: Yaroslav Chumachenko's modular Maserati concept

Inspired by the trellis construction of the Maserati Birdcage, IED Torino design student Yaroslav Chumachenko has fascinatingly updated the concept for a Maserati Quattroporte design. Foregoing the complicated and chaotic arrangment of the Birdcage's tubes, Chumachenko proposes a neat system of standardized, modular components, rather like vertebrae and ribs, that can be assembled like Lego into platforms for a sedan, an SUV and a rear-engine car.

The manufacturing implications of this are huge. Clever design of the "vertebrae" means a carmaker could produce those same underlying parts for years and years, updating only the other, more superficial elements of the cars to produce "fresh" models. Chumachenko proposes that drivers could even order new bodies produced through stereolithography; what we extraopolate from this is that the masses could order bodies at one price point while the wealthy could order higher-priced, bespoke bodies. A neat way for manufacturers to target several markets at once.

JUST PLAIN NONSENSE.
Pure lack of culture in technology and cars.
If I was kind I would compare this "project" to the Lotus Esprit, but I won't.
