Furniture inspired by Brigitte Bardot

Women have served as muses for artists ever since, well, the time of the Muses. But now Calliope has a somewhat surprising addition to her sisterhood, and not for the fields of painting or poetry: Brigitte Bardot, for furniture design.

Spanish artist/designer Jaime Hayon selected the blonde bombshell as the inspiration for his Bardot Collection, a sofa, loveseat and armchair produced by Bernhardt Design. Says Bernhardt president Jerry Helling,

"Initially I thought I understood the design and now I'm not as sure. Some days I think it is baroque or classical and others I see it as pop or modern, so the only thing I'm sure of is that it's good."
