The Medical Design & Manufacturing industry group (MD&M) has series of trade shows annually in four US cities Boston, New York, Minneapolis and Anaheim. I attended the Medical show at the Javits; The extremely high tolerance parts, finely tuned software interfaces, and new manufacturing processes on display always amaze me.

The show is a great opportunity for designers to connect with scientists, doctors, contract manufacturers, clients and industry leaders from around the world.

The event peaks with the MDEA awards given to the development teams and their suppliers. One can get up to speed with state of the art prototyping, lectures on FDA compliance, design and engineering masterpieces from the vendors. From realistic anatomical models too nano scale laser scanners, and micro molding, this show has it all. Here are some highlights.
