As part of New York Design Week's NoHo Design District, Japan Premium Beef, part-butcher, part-gallery, will present the glass sausages of Sam Baron, art director at Fabrica. The installation combines glamour, handicraft, representation, allegory, fragility, rusticity and humor.
Italian glass blowers since the beginning have always tried to reproduce natural elements such as flowers and birds. Nowadays it's hard for us to experience the beauty of a piece of meat because of our modern lifestyles and how little time we have to cook.
This installation unites the beauty of glass with the beauty of a good handmade sausage.
The glass is also a reference to the crystal pieces that compose a chandelier, with the manner in which the sausages are strung together and hung from the ceiling evoking those lighting fixtures that always bring life to the center of a room.
Glass Sausage Installation by Sam Baron Reception: Saturday, May 15, 7-10pm Hours: May 15-18, 10 AM to 8 PM Japan Premium Beef, 57 Great Jones Street, New York City
