This one oughta be interesting--Arizona State University's School of Life Sciences is holding a three-day conference called "Social Biomimicry: Insect Societies and Human Design."
The featured presentations will look at how to apply insect solutions to human problems like:
- How ants coordinate traffic --> minimizing congestion at airports and on highways
- Insect colony allocation --> assembly-line streamlining and more efficient internet hosting
- Insect nests climate control and group operations --> architecture
The working groups lined up for the breakout sessions have equally fascinating topics to tackle:
- Social Insects as Models for Biomimetic Design
- Bridging Biology and Design
- Implementing Social Biomimicry in Human Organizations
The conference will be held on the Tempe Campus from February 18th-20th. For more info, click here.
