One kitchen appliance that seems to have an undue amount of design attention lavished upon it is the espresso maker, particularly in Europe, signifying the cultural importance of the beverage. Just check out Casino's industrial-chunky model and Krups' Dulce Gusto from outer space:

While there's tons of product options if it's hot drinks you want, there isn't much competition to design devices that make drinks cold, since ice cubes do that job pretty well. But for the boozehound who wants a frosty drink without the adulterated taste, there's always the Helter Skelter Drinks Chiller:

Take it out of the freezer, pour your rotgut into the top and by the time it makes its way down the spiral, it'll be more cold than your wife when she finds out how many you've had.
