Exquisite jewelry inspired by the Swedish suburbs
Swedish jewlery designer Pia Aleborg has produced In The Act, a collection of necklaces that draw inspiration from being outdoors in a typical Swedish suburb. Aleborg pays utmost attention to material, scale and space, composing jewelry that evoke all the detritus of the suburban outdoors—chewing gum, popped balloons, sticks, bicycle parts, mysterious machine parts, etc. They're so effective that I can imagine finding all these materials myself, drifting between the road and the sidewalk on a daily walk to the train station.
