This g.stand, by Seoul-based industrial design firm grape lab, is made from a single sheet of recycled paper. It weighs just 45g (1.5oz), but is sturdy enough to hold "even the heaviest laptops," the firm writes.

"The carefully designed origami structure has the perfect angles for viewing and typing. It also prevents your devices from overheating with creases that keep the air flowing so you can keep on work flowing."

It collapses down to 3cm (1.2") to slide into its carry case. The case, by the way, is notched and can serve as a phone stand.

These run about $22.

These products and many others on sale on their Etsy store are certainly examples of good design, originality and practicality while remaining quite affordable (very reasonable prices and shipping cost).

Love this design and the notch in the case.
As an origami enthusiast, I'm really curious what the manufacturing process looks like. I'm guessing a machine takes a sheet and creates each long fold one-by-one, like an accordion. Then you would need a comb-like jig (same number of teeth as valley folds) to make the final folds in a partially manual process? Press the comb against the sheet where you need to fold the legs up and down. They probably aren't selling enough to justify a fully automated process. But I'm interested to hear other people's thoughts.
