This TernX invention solves a highly specific problem for parents. Specifically, parents traveling with small children. Like wheelchairs, strollers have to be checked in as luggage; this leads to stress at the luggage conveyor, as there's a chance the stroller may arrive damaged or worse, not arrive at all.
Australian couple Tack and Hoe Ping Lee, who frequently traveled with their kids, thus invented the TernX. It's a stroller that transforms into a carry-on, allowing it to fit in the overhead bin. And despite its stroller functionality, it still provides a modicum of storage space (18 liters, or about 4 ¾ gallons).
Impressively, it was designed for a parent to be able to unfurl it one-handed, while holding a baby:
To bring their invention to market, the couple collaborated with industrial designer Andrew Crawford and his team at Tricycle Developments, an ID and engineering consultancy based in Melbourne.
TV show Europe ByDesign did a down under episode where they featured the TernX. Here are the Lees and industrial designer Crawford describing the technical challenges they need to solve:

So great to see a TV show where the host says "So you thought you had a good idea, but you needed some industrial design grunts to flush it out" and then they actually take to you to the studio.
