I believe form-follows-function is how tools, handheld objects and wearables ought be designed. But when it comes to tech-laden objects like PCs, form-follows-function would be boring; everything fits in a box.
Taiwan-based artist and modder AK moves PC design in the opposite direction. AK has a wonderful grasp of form and color, and uses it to create powerful, functional PCs as deconstructed visual statements.
"My modding style is focused on creating clean, sleek, and sophisticated builds with simple color coordination that adds an understated elegance to the overall appearance of my projects. I strive for excellence and take great pride in paying meticulous attention to every detail, no matter how small or apparently insignificant."
"I believe that modding is an art form, and the essence of modding lies in creating simple, yet elegant designs that are aesthetically pleasing and functional. My modding style embodies this philosophy, and I take great inspiration from various forms of art to create unique and visually striking designs."
Judging by AK's well-appointed workshop and photography studio, he's making a living doing this (or has a lucrative day job).
There's tons more of his stuff to see here.
