It's easy for guys to pee outside (I've done it twice today, country life). It isn't so easy for women. As a college student, Georgia Grace Edwards took a summer job working as a glacier guide in Alaska. She experienced the following:
"While her male co-workers could easily and discreetly unzip their flies to pee, she was forced to trek across dangerous crevasses until she could find the privacy to remove 3-4 layers of clothing in freezing temperatures. This process made her so cold that she chose to cut her water consumption and risk dehydration instead — a common tradeoff for female adventurers."
Edwards, along with her classmates Bianca Gonzalez and Charlotte Massey, subsequently invented a special zipper design that would allow females to pee outside without having to pull their pants down.
That was in 2018. Today the trio have a company, Gnara, that makes outdoor apparel featuring their zipper design, called GoFly.
"Gnara products feature a patented GoFly® pee zipper design that will change your life next time you answer nature's call outside. In addition to the familiar zipper fly that allows you to take your pants on and off, a second zipper extends from beneath the first zipper to the back of the waistband. This design allows you to unzip only as far as you need to maximize privacy on the trail, in the woods, or anywhere else nature may call."
Gnara recently collaborated with another outdoor apparel brand, LIVSN, to incorporate the GoFly into these Ecotrek Overalls:

So, no underwear to wear these pants, right? Or do they also sell zippered underwear?
I'm not sure about longjohns, but if the wearer has on traditional panties, she'd probably just do as she might while wearing a romper or a swimsuit--hook the span of fabric with one finger and pull it to the side, out of the way.
