This Clipen, by South Korean design consultancy Design Rangers, is a pen that has a clip integrated into the length of its body. It can be slid onto documents or a notebook.
Whether or not this was their intent, this object is a good example of designing something specifically for corporate promotional appeal, rather than the mass market. People who aren't stationery nerds might not buy this for themselves, but companies are always looking for some inexpensive, quasi-useful object that they can buy in bulk to populate gift bags. And the pen's wide surface area offers ample space for branding.
The object also makes for a good collab-with-artists opportunity.
Lastly, aforementioned stationery nerds can adorn the surface with their own messages.
