Apparently the concept is popular. EDC gear manufacturer Titaner—the company that brought you the titanium folding fan for breaking windows—designed this Tiroler object, a circular measuring device:
To me it looks even less easy to use than a Crichton Coin, as you have to look at the tiny number through that little window.

Well, here's the thing. The Kickstarter campaign for the Tiroler was seeking $3K and change. At press time, they'd landed about $145K, with 11 days left to pledge. The EDC market is as weird as it is voracious.

I did no further research into this thing, but are you supposed to count the rotations via watching the numbers? Is there a click mechanism, sound, tactile or otherwise? I'm getting so sick of half the process of designing a new tool is also designing the problem the tool fixes.
