Kyle of RR Buildings, an American construction firm, recently visited trade schools and job sites in Switzerland to learn about European practices. While he recorded a lot of construction-nerd stuff, sometimes it's the little things that are the most interesting.
Watch this short clip (I've cued it up) where he encounters temporary jobsite lighting, European-style:

Hard to believe how freaking bright it is! I've been trying to find the product/manufacturer, and I think it might be this:
This RibbON LED, by French manufacturer Proteclight, conveniently comes on a 25m (82') reel. You just plug it into the wall, and it puts out 25,000 lumens; "Ideal for lighting up a construction site," the company writes.
Sadly these won't work over here; they're designed for the European market, where mains power can provide the required 230V. They're also a tad pricey at €476 (USD $506). That aside, I do think the design is (literally) brilliant.

There must be some ruggedization and some business pricing in place, because I can find similar LED strips for much less, ranging between €50 and €100 depending on color temperature, water resistance rating and reputation of the vendor.
