Sure, you can drive your RC car by using a handheld controller.

But if you've got 18 grand lying around, why not up your game? Chinese manufacturer CloudRC seels this AdvenX3 Cockpit Motion Chair 6DOF Racing Online System that connects to your RC car.
Your car has to be fitted with both a camera and one of CloudRC's "attitude sensors," as well as a transmitter to relay that data back to the cockpit.
So not only do you drive the vehicle remotely by looking at the screen, but your seat moves in synchronicity with what the vehicle's actually doing; as the company claims, "the driver can really feel the road feedback from the remote control vehicle, and [it provides] the driver with an immersive driving experience combined with the large screen."
Perhaps one day we'll see off-road racing championships staged in this way, with a bunch of drivers sitting in a room full of these, and a tiny track out back. I mean the cockpits are pretty bulky, but this arrangement would certainly make the vehicles easier to transport. Not to mention, you could maintain the track with a few gardening tools and a hose.

This could be the solution to the out-of-control costs of F1 racing. It might also bring some competitiveness back to what has become the most boring of auto racing.
